In September 2018, Simon Killer director Antonio Campos was confirmed by Deadline to be directing a movie based on the novel The Devil All the Time by Donald Ray Pollock. It would feature Tom Holland as Arvin Russell, Chris Evans as Sheriff Lee Bodecker, Robert Pattinson, and Mia Wasikowska. The actors were in talks rather than officially confirmed, however.

Later that month, Mia Goth was cast as a Mormon. [2]

In January 2019, Variety reported that Bill Skarsgård, Eliza Scanlen, and Gabriel Ebert had joined the cast. Around that time, Netflix was confirmed to be streaming The Devil All the Time.[3][4]

In February 2019, filming was expected to happen in Alabama and run until April.[5]

In February 14 2019, Sebastian Stan was replacing Chris Evans as Lee Bodecker, due to Evans' scheduling conflicts and his recommendation to have Sebastian Stan replacing him. Additionally, Jason Clarke, Haley Bennett, and Riley Keough were announced as part of the cast.[6]

In March 4 2019, Harry Melling had joined the cast.[7]

FIlming was completed in April 2019, the same time it was expected to finish.

In November 20 2019, Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans were announced as composers to the movie.
